University Services Committee Update
Senator Cobb
Right Now: Attending different meetings across campus to get students involved with Elections. Serving on the Board of Elections, and having several meetings to ensure the future of Johnson and Wales University Providence Campus Student Government Association’s future is secure. Working on creating several events for the candidates to attend to get to know the Student Government Association more, as well as booste the decorum of the voting system. He has created several pieces of legislation to be proposed to the Senate, one concerning the the vending machines that would accept meal plan swipes which will be proposed at the upcomming meeting. He is working with Senator Baird to work on initiating a partnership with a Taxi service at Johnson and Wales Univesity Providence Campus.
Next Steps: He plans to assist his committee in anyway. He wants to ensure that people have the proper format for legislation. He will be meeting with Senator Baird in the upcomming week to assist in the facilitation of writting legislation for the Taxi Cab service. He plans on working dilegently with the Board of Elections. He also has office hours in CBCSI from 6-7pmEST on Tuesdays.
Senator Tequero
Right Now: Working with the Imperial buses. Currently persuing this issue with Senator Baird and Senator Weaver. He is getting specific examples of the bus problems to have evidence to provide to the Senate for legislation. He is getting ahold of the Imperial bus schedule to do further research on the topic. Also he is working with Senator Weaver to discuss issues with the Resident Director of Imperial.
Next Steps: Senator Tequero is awaiting for a response from the Resident Director of Imperial. He is working on getting more examples of when the busses run late. He is talking to the Edmund buss as well concerning the connecting issues.
Senator McGrath
Right now: Senator McGrath has been asking students about the main issues on hand. What he discovered is that the student body feels that the web labs in the library need to be opened for a longer amount of time.Next Steps: He plans to talk to officials, librarians, and the University Services Committee at an upcomming date.
Senator Belley
Right Now: Senator Belley is working dilegently with the University Services Committee on several projects. He is interested in creating a Free ID day, for students to utilize the opprotunity to get a free Johnson and Wales University Providence Campus Student Identification Card. He wants to work with the dinning services committe and see what is going on with them. He is executing a verbal survey across the campus to see what students are thinking about a bus shelter and where they think the appropriate area to have one would be.
Next Steps: Senator Belley is working with Senator Weinstein to plot out tangible areas for the shelter the University Services Committee would like to establish. He is working on ways to enhance the removal of snow in a more timely and orderly fashion. Also he will be looking more into the topic of the Free Identification Card day.
Senator Weinstein
Right Now: Senator Weinstien is currently working with Senator Belley on executing an on foot survey concerning several different topics, one of which being the bus shelter. She is investigating the concept of a Free Identification day with Senator Belley. She is thinking of having a Block Party in Gaebe Commons to raise money for the association.
Next Steps: She is following through with the snow removal by taking pictures, and discussing issues with Campus Safety and Security. She plans on reading all the information she and Senator Belley had gathered from their on foot survey!
Senator Baird
Right Now: Senator Baird is currently working on emails to several different Taxi Services to see which services would be interested in being the “Johnson and Wales” Taxi. He is working with Senator Cobb on legislation concerning the Taxi matter. He is also assisting Senator Cobb in several other aspects of the University Services Committee.
Next Steps: Keeping up the great work, and executing all of his tasks! He plans on writing legislation very soon!
